~ Wheelskin  Leather Cover ~

This is what my wheel looked like before the Wheelskin cover installed,  The leather was starting to wear the color right off and if your hand was wet it would stick to it..

I only wish the color matched better..  I have some one who may be able to custom make a black leather cover for me to stitch on, but for now I will see how I like this one.

The company who makes these is Wheelskins, the cover is of very high quality but color is somewhat limited,  As you can see from the "universal gray" on mine.  The one other thing I disliked about this is that the thread they give you is all black, not colored and they way they have you stitch it on is not the best way to stitch it.  Their instructions have you looping it just around the edge in a front hole to hole right behind it pattern,  I bought a $1.00 spool of extra heavy duty thread and  used the stitch above... This allowed a extremely tight fit that can not be "slipped around.  The total time it took to stitch it like this was 4 hours,  but I think the look and fit of that stitch was well worth it..

At this time, I have removed the cover and I have gone back to the worn wheel.. The cover held up well, but I just got sick of the color match.

Update 3-36-2002

I have recently found out that they now have a charcoal color that should match better, and I can pay the extra money for a "two-tone" cover with the same colors on it (this will have nicer seams, off the spokes)
