Here is the base fitted into the truck, My Dad pretty much built all of it for me. Once we had this done then we went to work fitting it into the truck ..
In this picture to your left, you can see the piano hinge recessed and  foam tape to fill the void. This allows the carpet to lay perfectly flush on the top.
			Here is the box covered in glue ready for the carpet to be laid
Above you can see the "dog barrier" I put up to keep any cargo out of the passenger compartment. The legs are recessed into a 1" deep hole to keep it from kicking out

This whole project was made kinda out of necessity due to the amount of stuff I carry and use often in the back of the truck.  The second reason for this, is now that we are doing a lot of camping with our pop-up camper, I need more room in the truck.  Now at first it looks like a lot of room is used by the box, but given the fact that I no longer have the floor lined with stuff, and the floor space is not hindered by the wheel wells, I have gained a lot of flat space to load gear.. I never normally loaded the truck above the seats before so I had room above the seats free.. I did need to buy a dog barrier to keep it all from flying forward in an accident though.. I made sure it would stay put by recessing the holes for the feet 1" into the cover.

The box is made of 3/4" plywood, and is heavy.. I could of used lighter wood, but I wanted this box to also take a good amount of abuse off-road. Total cost of this project in materials was somewhere under $200.  Like I said some of the stuff was overkill, like the full roller bearing drawer slides and the drawers  being constructed out of 3/4" plywood (right down to the bottom)  But all in all, I am very pleased with this project and the way it came out..
