This lathe
came home with me at the end of a pretty long drive to go see
it. (100 mile round trip) I almost passed on it,
but with the long drive I had to bring it home. This is a King-Seeley built
lathe that was sold under the Dunlop name some time in the
1950's. This one was one of the gold painted lathes and if I
remember correctly, that would put it into the later 50's. This
is a rather odd lathe as it does not use a morse taper or a
threaded headstock but uses the same attachment as the Shopsmith
system
Rust
removal on this one was 100% electrolysis, mostly to give it a
try on a lathe bed and because I was too lazy to set up the
sandblaster! I think I like the sandblaster much better for the
lathe bed, it's a bugger to clean the underside off once it
comes out of the tank. I probably spent half an hour scrubbing
on the casting underneath it! This one
will be placed up for sale soon and hopefully enjoy many more
years of use.
