1938 Craftsman 101.06241 lathe made by Atlas Press Co.
UPDATE:
This lathe has made it's way to a new home and I feel that it will be well taken care of. I will leave this page up for others that may be looking for help on their own. Enjoy your new lathe, Dwight!
This lathe is a 9"x30" wood lathe with a 3/4"-16 tpi headstock and a No.1 morse taper. This is a belt driven lathe and is said to have speeds from 710 - 1305 - 2287 - 3952 when driven off a 1725 rpm motor. The headstock has the index holes for precision layouts and the belt is easily changed with access under the flip up belt cover. The lathe can be driven from the back or, my favorite, underneath. This lathe is all cast iron with not a piece of plastic to be seen, made before WWII by Atlas Press Co. This lathe was fully disassembled, bagged, sandblasted and each part carefully refurbished. There were also no repairs to be found which is so common, this one was nice and solid without cracks or repairs. Well now, onto the photos!

So there it is, yet another tool restoration, this time on a 68 year old lathe. Soon it will be running again and making curls. I decided against the blue paint that was on it because I was not fond of the blue and it reminded me of their new "Companion line" To be honest, it's a new line, but an old name, now they are part of a poorly made line of tools, and I like the machine gray much better.)
