Page 4 – 3/12/2000 – Cowl Work
Since finishing the frame, the next logical step was to complete work on the cowl. Cory had already started working on the cowl several weeks ago, and the work was beginning to start rusting again.

Here are some shots of the sanded cowl before we prepped with Marine Clean and Metal Ready.

 

  

Look at those nice holes…. It’s a wonder I never had electrical problems

We attempted to use the POR floor board repair kit material to cover the holes. This is basically a fiberglass mesh that looks like a very thin layer of home insulation. You’re supposed to paint a layer of POR-15, then place the mesh over the hole, and onto the painted area. Then paint over the mesh.

 

 

 

As it turns out, the mesh wasn’t strong enough. It’s now back to the drawing board to try and fix the huge holes I have in my cowl. We’re thinking of removing the fiberglass mesh and working with the POR Epoxy Putty.

In progress:

Windshield has been stripped on one side

Hood has bee stripped on one side.
Skirts are primed and waiting for installation
Bib is in progress.
