Alcan Front Spring
Installation
I was very impressed with the flex of my stock Trailmaster front springs.
They flex so well that my 33's get stuffed into my firewall. Because of
this, I wanted to relocate the axle 1.5" forward. There are a number of
ways to do this, but the best way is to install springs with the locating
pins moved forward. When you do this, the shocks won't line up. The answer,
relocate the shocks forward also. Once again, there are a number of ways
to do this. I chose to use All-Pro's front shock hoops. They allow the
use of longer shocks also, which means more flex!!! Since I will have it
all apart anyways, I am also installing NWOR greasable shackles and pins.
So this is a pretty involved project moneywise.
What I will be adding:
-
1 set of Alcan front springs with 5" lift and pins moved 1.5" forward
-
NWOR Elite Series greasable shackles-standard length with poly bushings
-
NWOR greasable front spring pins
-
All-Pro front shock hoops
-
Doetsch Tech front shocks
Why I chose the parts I chose:
-
I chose Alcan springs for their great reputation for flex. I have a set
in the rear and love them.
-
I chose NWOR's shackles and pins because I also have them in the rear and
love them. They are high quality.
-
I chose All-Pro's shock hoops because of the high quality of their products.
-
I love Doetsch Tech's shocks. I've had them all and nothing compares.
Once again, there are many different ways to get the end result that I
will have. I am not saying that they are better or worse, this is the way
I chose to do it. I can say that this is probably the most expensive way
to do it though.
The new springs just arrived!!!
Old Trailmaster springs.
