Carburetor to EFI conversion
Part 3: EFI Components Assembly

I sent my head out to get redone. They pressure tested the head, installed new valve seals, did a 3 angle valve job, checked all of the valve guides, and installed my LC cam for me. I also ordered a new set of rocker arms as is recommended by LC Engineering with any new cam. The grand total : $475.00

I ran into a small snag when trying to pull off the EFI intake from the EFI head. I missed a 6mm allen screw intake bolt that is hidden under the intake and had a hard time getting the two to separate. Once I found this bolt, everything came apart.

Certain small things that I found were different were:

  • There was some sort of smog device bolted to where the EFI fuel filter goes. It isnt used with EFI and was discarded as were the air tubes that go above the header.
  • The high pressure fuel line has to be either made or salvaged. Toyota would charge you over $500 for the entire thing. Try to get the rubber hoses from the donor truck!!
  • The vaccum hose for the brake booster is different between carb and EFI.
  • The upper radiator hose is different between carb and EFI
