Club Activities
Like any off-road club, our members like to get out and wheel! And wheel we have, at a variety of local trails. These include: the sandy hills of Bellingham, MA; the beat up powerline run called "Vietnam" in Milford, MA; the rocks, mud and quarry steps of Mason/Brookline, NH; the crazy country road called MaBell in Northhampton, MA; the mild-to-wild trails (including Lamentation) in Meriden, CT; the ancient horse and buggy paths of the Mink Hills in NH. We are always looking for new places to wheel, and we are working on a Trail Directory for members and friends.
More important than wheeling trips, perhaps, is the remarkable little community that has been created by our members. Because we wheel, we need to repair, and that has been one of the main rallying points of our community. In just the past few months we have done simple maintenance, suspensions swaps, massive rewiring, cut up parts trucks, axle and drivetrain work…you name it. We have also traded a good number of parts amongst ourselves. And most of this has been done in groups and with a great deal of fun. Nobody in Yankee Toys has to face up to a big truck project all alone.
Finally, we are a group of friends, and we like to socialize. In addition to the wheeling and work parties, we try to meet up for dinners or beers as much as we can. We are fortunate to have members who love to have house parties, even with dusty wheelers after a day on the trails. Our official club meetings will always include a social component, and the highlight of this will be annual campouts.
